Sedation in endoscopy
It is a personal choice whether or not you wish to have sedation for your procedure. We will happily discuss the pros and cons of this with you at the time.
If you choose to have sedation, you should know that it is not a general anaesthetic and that you may be drowsy but aware during the procedure. The medication stays in your body after the test and affects your concentration and memory, so you will need someone to escort you home afterwards. Also, you should not drive a car, sign legal documents or do anything to put yourself or others at risk for approximately 24 hours afterwards.
