Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)

This test uses a small ultrasound probe within a special endoscope to allow us to see through the gut wall into nearby organs, and take biopsies if necessary.

EUS is most commonly performed to look at the oesophagus (gullet) and surrounding structures in the chest, but is also used to examine the stomach, bile ducts, gall bladder and pancreas. The procedure takes about 30 minutes and sedation is normally advised.
